Solo exhibition “Trauma” by artist Lukas Kolmogorcevas

2022-11-25/18:00 - 2022-12-15/18:00

“Trauma is the result of an action. This time I see it all around me.”
The main idea of the works presented in the exhibition by Lukas Kolmogorcevas is related to the personal experience of the passage of time and the sense of temporality. Feeling the transience in our environment is always a traumatic experience. We repress and control this experience to live in our greater or lesser comfort zones. A comfort zone must be safe, beautiful and sterile. By beautifying and sterilising our environments, we inevitably traumatise them.
In selecting and composing the forms of the objects and their symbolic contents, Lukas Kolmogorcevas identifies three main themes: medicine, nature and man. This chain of main themes led the artist to search for forms that visually evoke associations of traumatic experiences. In the compositions of the artist’s works, one can clearly identify healing and wounding elements. Through their combinations, the artist seeks to emphasise this problematic triptych [Gr. triptychos—triple compound] as an inseparable and integral phenomenon.
On 26 November from 3 to 7 pm and on 27 November from 4 to 7 pm, the exhibition will be part of the programme of the official closing of Kaunas – European Capital of Culture 2022, “Act III of the Trilogy: THE AGREEMENT”. The entire programme of the European Capital of Culture Closing Ceremony from 24-27 November in Kaunas and Kaunas district: https://kaunas2022.eu/sutartis/
The exhibition runs until 15 December.
L. Kolmogorcevas graduated from the Vilnius Academy of Arts, Kaunas Faculty, and is a contemporary artist. He works on artistic projects, participates in international exhibitions, and is also an art educator and head of the visual arts studio “Kūrybos sala”.
