Slam #Poetry Spring

Kaunas love poetry! Therefore, for the second year in a row, Kaunas Artists’ House together with our closest neighbors – Kaunas Department of Lithuanian Writers’ Union, invites you to the Poetry Spring Slam. This event, at least symbolically, will combine modern literary experiments with the long-standing spirit of Poetry Spring.

While Kaunas Artists’ House yard is filled with construction equipment, Poetry Slams move into the yard of Kaunas Culture Center! There, despite the restrictions, all slam lovers will fit. Thank you to our partners KKC for the hospitality and we meet at Vytauto Ave. 79!

Poetry slam event happens every month in Kaunas Artists House, there are only three rules:

1. poems must be original work of the performer,

2. the performance can’t be longer than 3 minutes,

3. poets cannot sing or use musical instruments or props.

The process:

there are three rounds. The poets are judged by a 5 judges randomly selected from the audience. Performances are evaluated in a ten-point system. In the first round, all participants appear, in the second and third – the participants with the highest score.

The event will be held in Lithuanian, but poets are welcome to perform in any language.

Organizers of the event: Kaunas Artists’ House and Lithuanian Writers’ Union Kaunas Department. The event is part of the KAH Literature Education Program “Trenksmas”.

Event partner is Kaunas Culture Center.

The prizes of the Lithuanian Writers’ Union and Kauko Laiptai publishing houses are waiting for the best, and the winner will be awarded the almanac of this year’s Poetry Spring.

The event is partly financed by the Lithuanian Culture Council and Initiatives for Kaunas.
