Niamh Seana Meehan: “The texts will be a combination of first-hand experiences, ramblings, sketchbook fragments and conversations with people I encounter along the way. As an artist in residence, I will be using my time to speak with individuals living and working in Kaunas. As Brexit is being ‘implemented’ Friday 31st January 2020 the texts will acknowledge the position of an individual travelling from Northern Ireland to Lithuania. We are living in a time ‘uncertainty’ and it is this ‘uncertainty’ that specifically interests my practice and research.”

Residencies: arriving from elsewhere
2020-02-24/18:00 - 20:00
FreeKaunas Artists’ House together with The Centre for Contemporary Art Derry~Londonderry (CCA) and the Lithuanian Cultural Institute is starting a new Reciprocal Residency for emerging artists. Entitled DeMo (Decoding Modernity), the programme aims to create opportunities for emerging artists to participate in residencies, to stimulate mutual dialogue and exchange between the artists and the institutions. DeMo aims to explore the connections between different modernities, that is, to unravel modernity as a phenomenon in the broader sense of time and space and across cultural, scientific, societal and industrial developments.
Residency programme “DeMo” partners: The Center for Contemporary Art (CCA) (Derry ~ Londonderry, Northern Ireland), Lithuanian Cultural Institute, The thankyouforcoming residency programme in Nice (France), The Cultural Center LAB
/ Kulturni centar LAB (KCLAB) (Novi Sad, Serbia) and Kaunas 2022: “Modernism for the Future”.
