“Well did you ever think it’d be ok for me to step into this world“: a lecture-performance by Valentine Duduk and Vera Kavaleuskaya
The 8th of March, 6 pm | Kaunas Artists’ House

Kaunas Artists’ House is pleased to invite you to an open lecture-performance on mpostor syndrome and mainstream culture tropes by Valentine Duduk and Vera Kavaleuskaya “Well did you ever think it’d be ok for me to step into this world”, taking place on the 8th of March, 6 pm.

This event is a part of the KAH residency programme event series. The program of residences at Kaunas Artists’ House has been created in 2018 with the aim to present the most relevant contemporary artists, curators and cultural researchers working in Lithuania and abroad to the residents and guests of Kaunas city. The residency program aims to foster intercultural, cross-institutional and cross-sectoral cooperation, to provide artists and cultural producers with the opportunity to become acquainted with the historical and cultural context of the city during their residency, to facilitate their cooperation with other artists or cultural producers and local communities.

This work explores the problematic of mental health under the conditions of modern-day capitalism, tackles the topic of human relationships with the novel technologies, and subversively exams the ways of resisting the pressure of productivity and competition.

Valentine Duduk is a graphic designer based in Vilnius who builds his approach on producing new meanings via means of visual communication in between two areas: flossed obviousness and (un)transparency.

Vera Kavaleuskaya is a freelance curator and editor based in Helsinki. She is also a co-founder and a member of an artist collective, which focuses on study of artificial intelligence and speculative futures. Her current research interests are: institutional critique with the focus on ethical questions of curatorial praxis; leisure, labor, and work in capitalist and post-capitalist society; speech, language, and text.

The event will be held in English. Attendance is free of charge.
