Do you know when the first Kaunas Artists’ House poetry slam took place? 2017 July 20!Invitation read “Poetry slam arrives to Kaunas believing that ‘there is nothing more eternal than temporary’.” Glad there have been 50 poetry slams since then to prove the truth of this phrase!
There were stars and newcomers
there were newcomers who became stars,
there were poets and hosts
soft, loudmouthed, straight and queer.
There were lawns, halls, saliva and Santa,
love, roses and lesbian beauty.
But most importantly, you all were there!
So come to celebrate,
this time it’s ok to be sentimental.

Atomic duo hosting the jubilee slam: Jovaras and Danielė Liepa. Slemas #50 will take place at Kaunas Artists’ House (V. Putvinskio St. 56-1). Hopefully the weather won’t disappoint and for the first time this summer we’ll be slamming out into the open sky! You are welcome to bring drinks to refresh yuorself.~ ~ ~
Like last times, we will invite you to contribute to humanitarian aid for people fleeing Ukraine. The recommended donation is 5 Eur or more (if you cannot afford to donate this amount, please inform the volunteers and choose an amount that suits your financial abilities).

Poetry slam event happens every month in Kaunas Artists House, there are only three rules:
1. poems must be original work of the performer,
2. the performance can’t be longer than 3 minutes,
3. poets cannot sing or use musical instruments or props.

The process:
there are three rounds. The poets are judged by a 5 judges randomly selected from the audience. Performances are evaluated in a ten-point system. In the first round, all participants appear, in the second and third – the participants with the highest score.

The event will be held in Lithuanian, but poets are welcome to perform in any language.
