DeMo talks: artist Beatrice Celli

We are pleased to continue our reciprocal Artist in Residence program “DeMo” with our newest guest artist from France –Beatrice Celli! During the residency, Beatrice will develop a project on the theme ESPRIT COLLECTIF (EN: collective spirit).

Beatrice Celli (1992) is an Italian artist living between Castelli (IT) and Marseille (FR).

In her practice, she draws inspiration from the popular folk and mystical culture of her region, Abruzzo (Southern Italy). Playing with the perspective of the anthropologist, Beatrice Celli creates a personal mythology through invented folklore and interwoven beliefs that invite us to imagine new worlds. In doing so, the artist combines various myths and traditions by creating sculptures, performances, and installations.

During her Artist Talk at KAH yard, she will present projects she has been working on for the past several years. Beatrice will also present to the audience the research project developed here during her residency on Lithuanian folklore, with a special focus on Devils Museum.

Beatrice Celli studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Urbino in Rome and at Villa Arson in Nice. Her work has been exhibited at Kleine Humboldt Galerie in Berlin, at Venice Biennale, at the Institute of Visual Arts in Shanghai, and at Sonnenstube in Lugano, among others.
