25 October, 6 pm., Kirtimai Cultural Center invites you to the video art screening “Flashes” at Kaunas Artists’ House. This is a series of events presenting Lithuanian video art, focusing on some of the most famous artists in our country and their video works.

Video art is rarely presented outside the capital, which is why at events travelling around Lithuania, viewers are introduced to a rich video program of different genres and themes. The video program is accompanying

lecture by prof. dr. Remigijus Venckus about the emergence of video art and its further development, the video films will be also presented in the context of today’s social, technological and geopolitical issues.

Prof. dr. Remigijus Venckus is a media artist and cultural researcher. In 2014 he defended his doctoral thesis at Vilnius Academy of Arts and Lithuanian Culture Research Institute. He is currently professor of Arts at the Department of Graphic Systems, Faculty of Fundamental Sciences at Vilnius Gediminas Technical University. R. Venckus curates and reviews contemporary art exhibitions writes about painting, photography and video art.

The project is partly funded by the Lithuanian Council for Culture.
