Last year, for the first time, the programme of “Gallery Weekend Kaunas“ hosted a specially arranged zine picnic. This year, the recreational zine zone returns to Kaunas Artists’ House terrace: on Saturday 11 May, 1-4 pm, the picnic returns and invites to explore the broad variety of zines (DIY publications/magazines): the picnic, reflecting the contexts of independent publishing and alternative, communal, critical thought, will showcase artistic, cultural, political, childrens‘ and other zines. We invite everyone who wants to bring their own zines, share them, discuss, browse and exchange.
The event will host publications by “Kitokia Grafika” and the social centre “Emma”. Also, Rasa Kavaliauskaitė and Elena Švilpė, human rights activists, will share her feminist and queer zine collection. This selection will be boosted by publications from the KAH infocentre.
All of this will be accompanied by a setlist from “Kambariniai Augalai” and the vegan, vegetarian cuisine (not to mention the falafels) from “Ridikas”, who will move here from the Kaunas Railway station.
